Welcome Greetings
132nd Congress of the German Society of Internal Medicine, DGIM
Dear Esteemed Colleagues and Friends,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 132nd DGIM Congress 2026, and I would like to sincerely thank the German Society of Internal Medicine and Prof. Dagmar Führer-Sakel for the invitation and for hosting this important meeting here in Wiesbaden, the heart of DGIM.
The congress motto, “Paradigm shift in Internal Medicine – shaping the future,” perfectly reflects the moment we are living in. Internal medicine is evolving rapidly, and today it stands as a future engine of modern healthcare integrating innovation, managing complexity, and placing the patient at the centre of care. Shaping this future requires new concepts, important changes, and strong collaboration across Europe.
The close partnership between EFIM and DGIM is a strong example of this European spirit. Together, we work to strengthen Internal Medicine by promoting excellence in education, research, and clinical practice, while promoting collaboration among all EFIM national societies. This collaboration is essential to ensuring a strong, connected, and forward-looking Internal Medicine community across Europe.
This congress provides an outstanding platform for exchange, discussion, and inspiration right here in the beautiful city of Wiesbaden and I am confident it will contribute meaningfully to shaping the future of our discipline.
I would like to thank DGIM Board and Prof. Dagmar Führer-Sakel once again for inviting me and EFIM to be part of this very important event and I would like to wish you all a successful and inspiring DGIM Congress 2026.
We hope to see you during our next EFIM congress in Paris from 23 – 27 March 2027.
Prof. George Dalekos
EFIM President
